Felt Craft Tutorial – Classic bear

When I was small, I always liked bears. Nothing provides more comfort than hugging a fluffy plush bear and going to sleep with it.  Always believe teddy bears will protect you when you are asleep, haha, how silly!  🙂

For this tutorial, I have made a classic shape bears. You will need below items for this project:

1. Felt fabric – you will need about 1/4 meter, prefer printed and acrylic felt. Acrylic felt is softer and more suitable to be used as plush material. Do choose those that are better in quality to prevent lumps when handling.

2. Polyester fiber – a handful for stuffing your bear, you can also use cotton but it will not hold the shape after some time since cotton is easier to be compressed.

3. Safety eyes and nose – 8 mm for the eyes and 15 mm for the nose. You can use other sizes that you think is suitable.

4. Doll joints with washer – I am using 20 mm doll joints with washer to connect the head, legs and hands so it is movable.

5. Beading awl – or anything sharp so that you can make holes in the fabric to install the eyes and nose.

Other sewing supplies such as sewing thread, needles, scissors and tracing pen.

** If you need bigger finished size of the bear, you can always copy the template to larger percentage. You can adjust them if you have copier that can enlarge the image.
